Rewatching FMA: Brotherhood
I loved the beginning of Fullmetal Alchemist. It was funny, unique and smart, but then I noticed a depart from its clever plot, spinning farther and farther away from where the story had originally been going. By the end of the series I was disappointed and let down.
That why I was ecstatic when I found out they were releasing Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. I finally got to see the series as it was meant to be seen. With coherent themes, proper character development, and believable consequences.
That is why FMA: Brotherhood is one of my most rewatched series.
I would have missed out Ling and Greed. I would have missed out on Lust’s epic death at the hands of Roy. The Armstrong family would have been relegated to the role of comic relief. And if I hadn’t watched the new series, Ed and Al would have been stuck in our boring world without powers and separated from everyone they knew and loved. Bullshit.
FMA: Brotherhood is wonderful for its sense of humour and its sense of importance. It’s written like an excellent novel, exploring themes like forgiveness, politics, and war to the very end, leaving you feeling fulfilled and satisfied. And you could spend hours studying the alchemic symbols and myths that were woven into the story so well.
That is why FMA: Brotherhood is one of my most rewatched series, and just plain excellent.
